Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a core therapy within Chinese Medicine that uses very fine needles placed at specific points on the body to support the body’s natural healing processes. Treatments help regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, reduce pain, resolve inflammation, promote tissue healing and restore balance across the various body systems. It is common to experience states of deep rest and repair during sessions. Each treatment is tailored to the unique condition and constitution of the individual, supporting both immediate relief and long-term healing.

How I practice

Diagnosis

Every treatment begins with careful listening and observation. I take a comprehensive health history, then assess through pulse diagnosis, palpation of the channels and abdomen, and tongue diagnosis. Together these clarify the underlying patterns behind your symptoms.

Treatment

I draw upon TCM and classical acupuncture techniques as well as Japanese Meridian Therapy according to each patient’s unique conditions and sensitivities. These are combined as needed with somatic and manual therapies including shiatsu, tuina (chinese bodywork techniques), cupping, gua sha and sotai (a form of Japanese structural integration).

Treatment plan

You leave each visit with a clear plan: how often to come, how treatments will be structured, and what will support our work between visits. This may include dietary and nutritional guidance, lifestyle changes, self-care you can do at home and exercises or personalized qigong practices.

Commonly treated conditions

Pain and injury, neuropathy, migraines, vertigo, stress, anxiety, sleep issues, digestive conditions, allergies, hormone imbalance, menopause, fertility, pregnancy, environmental illness, chronic inflammatory conditions, chronic illness, acute illness, women’s health, men’s health and autoimmune conditions

Also offered

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is the burning of refined mugwort (mona) near or on acupucnture points to deliver gentle, penetrating warmth. It stimulates circulation, supports tissue healing and immune response, and builds vitality.

Manual Therapies

Tuina: Chinese therapeutic bodywork that works the muscles, joints and channels to relieve pain and restore circulation and healthy range of motion.
Shiatsu: A Japanese form of bodywork that applies rhythmic finger pressure along the channels to restore channel and body system balance and circulation.
Cupping: Suction on the skin that releases tight muscle and fascia and improves local circulation of blood and lymph.
Gua sha: Light, rhythmic scraping that relieves stiffness and stagnation in sore or congested areas.
Sotai: Gentle guided movements that help the body release tension and restore easy range of motion.

Non-insertive techniques

Treatment does not always require needles. Non-insertive methods stimulate points through touch, pressure or smooth instruments that do not penetrate the skin. These include acupressure and the Teishin, a rounded tool. Such techniques are well suited to children, sensitive patients and anyone who prefers a needle-free session.
